About the Department

The Department of Economics is one of the oldest departments of the university under the School of Professional Studies. Since the inception of the university, the department has been offering undergraduate course in Economics (July 1998). However, the Post Graduate course has also been successfully initiated since the academic session January 2022. This department has a long tradition of imparting quality education and conducting in-depth training keeping in mind the needs of the current employment scenario. The teaching programmesare focused on proper blending of quality and relevance. This is sought to be achieved by periodic updating of syllabus in conformity with the advancement of knowledge in the subject with equal emphasis on theoretical and applied economics.

The vision of the Department of Economics consists of exploring economic study and analysis, policy framing and implementation issues faced by the Indian economy along with the analysis of other economies in the world. The Department recognizes the growing demand for trained manpower in industry, government, research and other sectors as well as nurturing future researchers and specialists in economics. We try to meet this demand in a committed manner.
